Capstone At-A-Glance 2026

Phase I: Ideation & Research
December 2025 – February 2, 2026

Ideation & Research will consist of the formulation of the conceptual framework for your project, identification of a larger narrative “theme” or story, and the development/collection/creation of content and other raw materials.

Phase II: Content Shaping & Design Exploration
February 4, 2026 – March 4, 2026

Once a theme is defined, build and shape your content and ideate how you will represent your narrative(s) visually, or build your campaign. Investigate, sketch & rationalize how the medium is appropriate-to and reflective of your story. Exploit the unique affordances of each medium.

Phase III: Design Development
March 5, 2026 – March 26, 2026

Design Development will encompass the creation of multiple narrative contents (your “Story World”), the planning of a systems-oriented functional framework of three (3) distinct narratives that work independently and as a “whole” — the goal being: form/medium and content inextricably working together.

Phase IV: Implementation
March 27, 2024 – April 13, 2026

Design Implementation will involve the refinement of your narrative/s, the build-out of all technological requirements (i.e bookbinding, interactive prototyping/simulation, etc.) and the design and planning of your individual exhibition.

Phase V: Exhibition

April 14, 2026 – April 30, 2026

This is the Design Validation phase. It will focus on the completion of your Capstone, and the coordination and presentation of a cohesive transmedia narrative experience at the exhibition venue.

Tuesday, April 14 & Wednesday, April 15, 2026:  Exhibition Installation
Thursday, April 16, 2026:  Exhibition Opening Reception
Thursday, April 30, 2026:  Exhibition Close
Friday, May 1, 2026:  Exhibition De-installation [TBC]

*Please note that you should also be advancing your personal branding materials and portfolio website over the course of this semester. There are a couple of times that we’ve allocated to review/touch base on your progress. It is important that each student is proactive about this work and manages their time responsibly to include its advancement. Final deliverables include this work.
