Homework:

+ Narrative Project: Choose 2–3 story ideas from the List Provided, or come up with your own. Begin preliminary visual and content research for each idea.

Narrative Project: Small Group Critiques
+ Present 2-3 story directions (abstracts + research) for feedback
+ Discuss project goals, target audience, mediums and affordances

Homework:
Due Monday for Narrative Project:
+ Write and print a 50-word abstract for each story direction explaining goals, audience, chosen mediums, and why you selected them (affordances).

+ Bring a minimum of 10-15 pieces of potential content sources / raw materials and visual research as hard copies/printouts for use in class on Monday.
+ Bring tools to work with, such as x-acto knife or scissors, markers, ruler, pencils, post-its, index cards, sketching materials, etc.)

Narrative Project Phase III: Content Development

+ Complete Narrative Maps for both story ideas (2)
+ Photograph each map and upload to your class folder on our Shared Google Drive before Wednesday’s class

+ Reflect on which story has the most potential and be ready to explain why
+ Be prepared to discuss your two possible medium approaches and your reasoning based on affordances

+ Explore multiple possible medium ideas for your project by creating distinctly different concept/pencil sketches for your (4-5).

+ Explore 3-4 distinctly different visual language approaches for your Narrative project. *See visual language examples via link at left.

Week 5

Narrative Project Phase IV: Concept Development

Class Presentation/Critique: Narrative Project Concept Development
+ Present multiple concept/pencil sketch explorations for both mediums plus preliminary visual language exploration.
+ Upload one PDF to our shared Google Drive before class that includes: your pencil/concept sketches, and your visual language studies.

Homework:
Form making begins!
+ Further develop your concepts as defined in your pencil sketches, and select the strongest and most appropriate based on your target audience(s), goal, and medium affordances.
