INFOGRAPHIC PROCESS STEPS<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Select the information or data (= message) to be communicated.<\/li>\n
  2. Identify your target audience.
    \nWho is this for? This can inform your design approach.<\/li>\n
  3. Choose what you think is the most appropriate type of infographic:
    \n– map
    \n– diagram\/chart
    \n– timeline
    \n– list-based
    \n– step-by-step
    \n– etc.<\/li>\n
  4. Consider how to use the least amount of words, unless your infographic is a list-based\u00a0 <\/span>or other typographic-based approach.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Design your infographic to work with the visual language of your Editorial (formal elements, color, typography, etc.)<\/p>\n

    3. Consider what kind of approach you might take with your data visualization\u00a0and develop\u00a0the “visual language” as appropriate. Refer to the System of Perceptual Principles\u00a0below.

    4. Unlike an infographic, a data visualization creates one complete “image” that represents all of your data, and as the viewer explores the image created by your data they are able to see patterns that communicate stories.<\/li>\n
    5. Consider\u00a0if your data visualization needs a “legend” that helps viewers understand what your visualization.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
