Homework Over Thanksgiving 2024
On Monday, December 2nd and Wednesday, December 4th each of you will present your preliminary Capstone research and ideation for feedback and discussion. During this presentation, we will collectively select one direction for you to move forward with for your Capstone.
CAPSTONE RESEARCH & IDEATION
1. Look at the Topics list on the Capstone 2025 Post > (and/or create your own), and identify 3-4 different potential topic directions for your capstone.
2. Make lists for each possible topic, investigating and researching multiple perspectives on the topic and what would be relevant for each.
3. Research topics of interest for your Capstone, using multiple research methods, including:
– Brainstorming, image and language gathering, mind mapping, sorting etc.
– Utilize the RU-N Dialogue Platform > and “pin” posts of interest
– Conduct Venn Diagram Exercise > Create a venn diagram for each topic that represents the perspectives you are considering, and what opportunities you think may be “common ground” between them. (See examples below, and above PDF Exercise Handout link.)
– Utlize the Research Website created by Natalie Borisovets >
4. Prepare a Presentation of 2-3 possible Capstone topics for Presentation and discussion. This should include: Preliminary Abstract for each concept direction, including audience, goal, possible mediums.
